Living and studying at UGM in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Cost of living
The cost of living is more than 60% lower than in other global destinations such as Tokyo and London. Yogyakarta special province has one of the lowest costs of living of all the Indonesian provinces. Monthly living cost for transportation between Rp 150,000.00 and Rp 250,000.00; cost for meals between Rp 500,000.00 and Rp 750,000.00; and cost for books and photocopies between Rp 100,000.00 and Rp 250,000.00.
There are many type of boarding houses for student in Yogyakarta, you can stay at a traditional boarding house that costs between Rp 90,000.00 and Rp 350,000.00 per month or stay at the university housing that costs between Rp 1,850,000.00 and Rp 3,950,000.00. Visas as an International student
You must obtain a valid student visa through the Indonesian Government's Diplomatic Mission (Embassy, Consulate General) in your home country.
We strongly suggest you only leave Indonesia only with this kind of visa (VITAS). Do not ever try to use another visa such as Cultural Social Visiting Visa (VKSB) or you will have to go to Immigration office every month for extension and have to leave Indonesia after six months to get a new visa.
