EXPERTS FROM FAC. OF AGRICULTURE UGM PRESENTED LECTURES IN A NFP ALUMNI REFRESHER COURSE

In a Refresher Course for Netherland Fellowship Program (NFP) alumni, 3 Faculty members of Fac. of Agriculture, UGM, delivered some lectures on Oct 4, 2017 in Rachmiwaty Building, Fac. of Agriculture UGM. Those are Prof. Y. Andi Trisyono (Dept. of Crop Protection) with a lecture topic was GAP in Indonesia, from Policy into Practise; Prof. Irfan D. Prijambada (Dept. of Microbiplogy) who arrived as Director of Community Service UGM, with a lecture topic was Role of UGM Community Service in facilitating society transition in Indonesia, and Dr. Jaka Widada (Dept. of Microbilogy) with a lecture topic was Role of University Research in Horticulture Value Chain in Indonesia.

The refresher course was completely conducted in Yogyakarta, 2 - 13 Oct, 2017, in collaboration between Fac. of Agriculture UGM and Center for Development Innovation, Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands. Topic of the course was Designing Sustainable Horticulture Value Chains towards a Food Secure Future. Participants were 20 people of mid-carrier Agricultural Proffesionals from various expertises, coming from 14 countries in Asia - Africa continents. This course was facilitated by two coordinators from CDI WUR and one UGM coordinator, Ani Widiastuti, Ph.D (Fac. of Agriculture Dept. of Crop Protection).

Participants were impressed and actively involved in discussions with the experts, moreover stated that they would like to contact the experts for further collaboration. They got deep impression on how UGM mobilized large number of students to be engaged in community service in all over Indonesia, and hope they can share this knowledge and apply it in their home country.

They also were strongly impressed on socio-enterpreneurship developed by farmer association in Indonesia and learned very much from how the socio-enterpreneurship contributes in Indonesian horticulture value chain. They learned from many cases faced by actors involved in Indonesian horticulture value chain, to analyse and gave actual suggestion to develop a sustainable one for food secure future.
